10 Reasons To Go Camping This Weekend

In honor of the Great American Campout this Saturday, here are some reasons why you should pack your bag, gas up the car, and sleep under the stars this weekend. If nothing else, pitch a tent in your backyard or cowboy camp in the comfort of your living room floor.

1. They say fresh air is good for your health

John Muir said it best, “Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean. “

2. S’mores

Burnt, perfectly-browned, gooey, delicious sandwiches of happiness. Isn’t this the real reason people go camping, anyway?

3. You won’t have to make your bed

Remember when you hated making your bed in the mornings? Balling up a sleeping bag and tossing it into the back of your car feels so satisfying!

4. Food cooked over a campfire tastes better

Whether it’s hot dogs, popcorn, or a juicy steak, food tastes much better in the fresh air and with smoky flavoring.

5. Mother Nature misses you

It happens to all of us—life gets in the way and we don’t spend nearly as much time outdoors as we should. Luckily, Mother Nature is willing to reconnect with you no matter how long you’ve been separated.

6. You can disconnect from the real world

If you’re lucky, your campsite will be lack cell phone reception. But even if not, leaving your TV, computer, and other gadgets at home is good for the soul. Almost like a reset button!

7. The stars in the sky are brighter than the ones on your TV

There’s nothing quite like looking up and being surrounded by millions of stars. It can make you feel lost, but in a good way.

8. Every campsite is a room with a view

Unlike hit-or-miss hotel room views, you can hand-pick the vista that you want to wake up to. And you can’t go wrong when every campsite is scenic.

9. You can spend quality time with family and friends

Sharing stories, adventures, and mishaps with loved ones is priceless and will only bring you closer together. You make memories that will last a lifetime.

10. Did I mention s’mores?

A camping staple.
