Friday Foods – Different Ways to Gorp

Peanuts. Raisins. M&Ms. Sunflower seeds. Rinse and repeat. Your traditional gorp can get a little…dull after a while. No worry! Here are four recipes from A Fork in the Trail to wake up those taste buds.

Pizza Gorp

Makes six servings

1⁄4 cup pine nuts

1 cup mini-cheese-flavored crackers

1⁄4 cup freeze-dried tomatoes, chopped

1⁄4 cup dry roasted peanuts

1/8 teaspoon oregano

6 small individually wrapped dried pepperoni sticks (shelf-stable variety)

At Home

Toast the pine nuts in a dry nonstick frying pan. Mix all of the ingredients except the pepperoni sticks together in a medium-sized bowl. Package each serving in a ziplock freezer bag. Put an individually wrapped pepperoni stick in each bag.
