Over Father’s Day weekend, my fiance & I spent the weekend at Lake Martin with his family.
Lake Martin is located in the central part of the state of Alabama (U.S.) in the counties of Tallapoosa, Elmore, and Coosa. It is a 39,180 acre lake with 743 miles (1,200 km) of wooded shoreline.
Lake Martin is well known for its recreational activites of swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, camping, golfing and…..jumping off the cliffs of the infamous “Chimney Rock”!
On June 12, 2008, to commencerate Father’s Day, my fiance, his brother-inlaw and 62 yr. old father climbed the steep and slippery jagged side of Chimney Rock all the way to the 62 foot highest cliff……and one by one jumped! I was nervous at first for their safety, precautions need to be taken with such a jump, but then overwhelmed with life’s great adventures and being witness to such a cool father and son event. Check out the pictures of Keith, Shawn and Fred jumping the infamous Chimney Rock!
P.S. I jumped the 40 ft. cliff, but no pictures…..I promise I did it though!:)
